Product details

Solenoid Door Locks can be used to electronically lock or unlock a door or cabinet. It is commonly used in home automation and other IoT based security-related applications. This 12V Solenoid lock is a larger version of our 0.6A Solenoid lock, it is bigger in size and hence can be used for larger doors. The size of the slug is also big hence it will be more robust than the smaller one. By default, the slug will be projected out with the help of a spring, keeping the door in a locked position without consuming any current. When a voltage of 12V is applied across the solenoid lock the slug is pulled in and the door is unlocked. Do note that the current consumption of the solenoid will be higher than 600mA if the operating voltage is less than 12V.

When you want a lock which you can control electronically and are big enough to meet big size requirement then you can use this 12V Solenoid Locks can be used for locking storage spaces, rooms, cabinets, shelves etc. It has springs to keep the lock in locked position thereby using no power in locked condition and when you want to unlock it, just power the solenoid inside with 12V power from a battery and it will retract the slug inside thus unlocking the door. The current flowing is inversely proportional to the voltage so keep in mind that if the voltage applied is less than 12V then the current drawn will be larger than 600mA. You can use it for IoT applications and Home Automation. You can use it with a relay to use with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PIC microcontrollers.
